A Little Dark Magic: Skulls, Serpents & Sparkly Spells

A Little Dark Magic: Skulls, Serpents & Sparkly Spells

Mes chéries,

Life is an ever-changing dance of light and shadow, of holding on and letting go. Some experiences shape us forever, while others invite us to shed the past and begin again. Both deserve to be honored.

This is what I love about skulls and serpents. The skull reminds us of life's preciousness, of those we have loved and lost, and the memories we carry. The serpent, forever shedding her skin, invites us to release what no longer serves us and make room for what comes next.

One remembers. The other renews. I find something beautiful in that pairing, and perhaps a little magic, too.

With Halloween approaching, I couldn't resist bringing these two talismans together for a little witchy mischief. After all, what's life without a flash of gold and a spark of magic?

The Skull: Remembering What Matters

For me, the skull is a celebration of life in all its beautiful complexity. A reminder of its impermanence, of those we have loved and lost, and of the importance of living fully in the present.

When I carved my Facette Skull in wax, I wanted to give this ancient symbol a contemporary, sculptural presence. Its angular facets catch the light from different directions, bringing a little brilliance to a symbol so often associated with darkness.

I love the contrast of those strong, geometric lines with the rich green of emerald eyes, gemstones long associated with love, renewal, and the heart. Diamond eyes add a playful flash of light, while opals bring their ever-changing colors.

Wear your skull as a bold ring or a charm close to your heart. I particularly love the Facette Emerald Skull charm on emerald beads, or layered with my Confetti Lune moon-phase necklace. A little reminder of life's cycles, worn your own way.

The Serpent: Shedding Yesterday

There is something captivating about the serpent's ability to shed her skin. She leaves behind what she's outgrown and carries on, renewed. I love that image of transformation, particularly the idea that we can choose what we take with us into the next chapter of our lives.

In my Bohème collection, the serpent coils around your finger, wraps herself into charms, and slithers into earrings. I carved her original form in wax, following the curves of her body and giving her just a touch of attitude.

Diamonds bring sparkle to her sculptural curves, while turquoise adds a flash of color and its traditional association with protection and communication. These are jewels with character, meant to be worn, touched, and enjoyed.

The Bohème Serpent Earrings are particularly fun to style. Wear them alone or add a Clicker and your favorite charms. A little creativity can transform the entire look.

Skulls & Serpents: A Little Alchemy

What I enjoy most is how these symbols work together.

The skull holds our memories. The serpent invites us forward. One honors the journey, the other welcomes change. There is room for both in our lives, and certainly in our jewelry collections.

I love pairing a Facette Skull ring with a Bohème Serpent ring, or adding a Diamond Skull charm to a serpent earring with one of my Bohème Clickers. The circle of the Clicker carries its own symbolism of wholeness and connection, bringing the jewels together both literally and symbolically.

You can play with gemstones, too. Diamonds for light and clarity, emeralds for love, turquoise for protection, and opals for their shifting flashes of color.

And of course, you can wear them simply because you love the way they look together. That's reason enough.

From My Hands to Yours

I carve my original designs in wax, shaping each curve, facet, and tiny detail before the pieces are cast in solid gold through the lost-wax process and finished in New York City.

What I love most is seeing how collectors make these jewels their own. Some choose a symbol for its meaning, others fall for its shape, its sparkle, or the way it feels against their skin. Over time, the jewelry gathers memories and becomes part of their story.

That's the magic of a personal talisman.

A Little Magic, Ready to Ship

I've gathered a special Skull & Serpent Magic edit, featuring rings, charms, and earrings in solid gold. Each jewel is ready to ship, with one of each design available.
