MONSTERA SNAKE BROOCH FAIRMINED GOLD FOR RECIPROCITY
The Monstera Snake Brooch: A Powerful Talisman for Transformation
This very special talisman was created as part of RECIPROCITY JEWELS, a designer collective co-founded by Delphine Leymarie in 2022 for an annual exhibition during NYC Jewelry Week.
Together, we crafted a capsule collection using responsibly sourced Fairmined gold and silver from artisanal miners in Madre de Dios in the Peruvian Amazon. These miners are committed to sustainable mining practices, including the elimination of mercury and reforestation of their concessions.
This one-of-a-kind brooch debuted during the third RECIPROCITY collection for NYCJW 2024 and is now available to purchase.
Inspiration:
The snake is a timeless symbol of transformation, protection, and renewal, revered across cultures for its connection to the cycles of life and nature’s ability to regenerate. Delphine hand-sculpted this graceful serpent, curling it protectively around a luminous violet sapphire, responsibly mined by Vitalis.
The snake rests upon a silver monstera leaves evoking the canopy of the Amazon rainforest—the lungs of our planet and a reminder of our need for clean, mercury-free air. This design pays homage to the miners’ reforestation efforts in the Peruvian Amazon, where closed portions of mining areas are being transformed into thriving forests, bringing life back to the land.
Delphine envisioned this brooch as a talisman of hope and balance, a reminder that through mindful collaboration, nature can thrive and continue to share its bounty of beauty.

A Symbol of Regeneration and Responsibility
This brooch reflects the spirit of RECIPROCITY JEWELS—a commitment to crafting jewelry that honors both nature and the people who care for it. It is a tribute to the artisans and miners working to create a more sustainable future through mercury-free practices and reforestation.
Thanks to a partnership with Pure Earth, miners in Madre de Dios are transforming their practices, reducing environmental harm, and restoring their land for future generations. A percentage of net proceeds from this brooch will be donated to Pure Earth, supporting their essential work in helping communities reduce mercury pollution and protect the environment.
Wear this brooch as a talisman of transformation and a connection to a better path forward—one where we honor the beauty of the earth and the potential for regeneration in all of us.
